The Good Listening To Show: Stories of Distinction & Genius
"If you tell your Story 'out loud' then you're much more likely to LIVE it out loud" and that's what this show is for: To help you to tell your Story - 'get it out there' - and reach a large global audience as you do so. It's the Storytelling Show in which I invite movers, makers, shakers, mavericks, influencers and also personal heroes into a 'Clearing' (or 'serious happy place') of my Guest's choosing, to all share with us their stories of 'Distinction & Genius'. Think "Desert Island Discs" but in a 'Clearing' and with Stories rather than Music. Cutting through the noise of other podcasts, this is the storytelling show with the squirrels & the tree, from "MojoCoach", Facilitator & Motivational Comedian Chris Grimes. With some lovely juicy Storytelling metaphors to enjoy along the way: A Clearing, a Tree, a lovely juicy Storytelling exercise called '5-4-3-2-1', some Alchemy, some Gold, a couple of random Squirrels, a cheeky bit of Shakespeare, a Golden Baton and a Cake! So it's all to play for! "Being in 'The Good listening To Show' is like having a 'Day Spa' for your Brain!" So - let's cut through the noise and get listening! The Good Listening To Show: Stories of Distinction & Genius
The Thoroughly Enjoyable Storytelling Structure of 'Legacy Life Reflections', in the Company of your Host, Chris Grimes
Welcome to the enchanting world of 'Legacy Life Reflections' a storytelling sanctuary unlike any Podcast you've encountered before! Your Host, Motivational Comedian Chris Grimes has crafted a unique narrative journey—one that begins in your personal "Clearing," that special place where mental clutter falls away and inspiration flows freely.
The magic of this format lies in its thoughtful structure. Picture a tree appearing in your clearing—your tree—which Chris will gently shake to discover which storytelling "apples" naturally fall. Through the "5-4-3-2-1" framework, you'll explore four influences that shaped you, three sources of inspiration, two irresistible distractions (your "squirrels"), and one quirky fact nobody could possibly know until you share it. This structured yet flexible approach creates the perfect balance between guidance and discovery.
As your journey continues, you'll explore moments of personal "alchemy and gold"—times when purpose and flow aligned to create your happiest experiences. You'll receive a celebratory cake (yes, an actual cake gets sent to guests!), and place a metaphorical cherry on top through sharing inspirational quotes and advice you'd offer to your younger self. The experience culminates with reflections on legacy, borrowing from Shakespeare's wisdom that "all the world's a stage," to contemplate how you'd most like to be remembered. Before departing this storytelling landscape, you'll "pass the golden baton" to someone else whose story deserves this same thoughtful exploration.
Whether you're a potential guest or an avid listener, Legacy Life Reflections offers a refreshingly meaningful alternative to standard interview formats. Subscribe now to experience storytelling that transforms personal narratives into lasting legacies and discover what stories might fall when your own tree is shaken.
Tune in next week for more stories of 'Distinction & Genius' from The Good Listening To Show 'Clearing'. If you would like to be my Guest too then you can find out HOW via the different 'series strands' at 'The Good Listening To Show' website.

Thanks for listening!
Hello, I'm Chris Grimes. I'm your curator and your host of Legacy Life Reflections. Allow me to talk you through what the unique and thoroughly enjoyable storiescape of Legacy Life Reflections is. It all takes place energetically in a clearing or serious happy place of you, my guests, choosing when do you go to get clutter-free, inspirational and able to think. Once you've told me where your clearing is, I then arrive with a tree in your clearing, and this is a bit deliberately existential, a bit Samuel Beckett-y, a bit Waiting for Godot-esque. I arrive with a tree and then I'm going to shake your tree to see which storytelling apples fall out.
Speaker 1:And then your next bit of preparation, having already told me where your clearing is, is your answers to a lovely, juicy storytelling construct called 5-4-3-2-1, which is where you've had five minutes to have thought about four things that have shaped you, three things that inspire you, two things that never fail to grab your attention and borrow from the film up. That's a bit mole squirrels. You know what are your shiny object syndromes, your squirrels. You know what are your monsters of distraction that have never failed to stop you in your tracks, whatever else is going on for you in your life. Those are your squirrels. And then the one is a quirky or unusual fact about you. We couldn't possibly know about you until you tell us. Then we've shaken your tree, we stay in the clearing.
Speaker 1:Next we talk about alchemy and gold. When you've been at purpose and in flow in your life, what have you been absolutely happiest doing? And at this point we may also talk about your halcyon days, times in your life when you know you are at your absolute happiest. And then, finally, I award you with a cake, hurrah. And you even get sent a cake as a result of having been in the show too. We'll talk about cake, whether you like cake or not, and if you don't, you're obviously quite strange. But you get to put a cherry on the cake. And now this is stuff like what's a favourite inspirational quote that's always given you, sucker and pulled you towards your future. What notes, help or advice, with the gift of hindsight, may you proffer to a younger version of yourself what's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
Speaker 1:And then, gradually, now we're ramping up to talk about legacy borrowed from Shakespeare and all the world's a stage. But just before we get there, there's a lovely final construct, which is called pass the golden baton please, which is your invitation, having experienced legacy life reflections from within, to pass the golden baton along to keep the golden thread of storytelling going, by passing it on to someone else in your life that you know would thoroughly enjoy being given a damn good listening to in the legacy life reflections construct in this way. And then, once you've passed the golden baton, we return to Shakespeare all the worlds of stage and all the men and women, merely players, to talk finally about legacy and how you'd most like to be remembered. So yes, it's not a memory test.
Speaker 1:I'll curate you effortlessly through the enjoyable story scape of the show. So, just to recap, it's a clearing a tree, a lovely juicy storytelling exercise called 54321. There's some alchemy, some gold, a couple of random squirrels, a cheeky bit of Shakespeare, a golden baton and a cake. So yes, I'm Chris Grimes. This is Legacy Life Reflections. I look forward very, very much indeed to curating you through the thoroughly enjoyable storytelling structure of Legacy Life Reflections. I look forward to meeting you.
